This rulebook covers the M visa for business and trade visits to mainland China, such as meeting suppliers or going to a trade fair. Hong Kong and Macao have their own visas. A job in China needs a work visa instead. The law says the visa office does not have to give reasons for a refusal, so a refusal letter may name no ground at all. The grounds here come from Article 21 of the Exit and Entry Administration Law, which lists when a visa is not issued, and from the official lists of what an M application must contain. In Nigeria you apply online through the visa centre in Abuja, which the Chinese Embassy appoints. The embassy says a visa normally takes 4 working days, and its fees for Nigerians, kept until 31 December 2026, are 10,500 Naira for one entry, 15,750 Naira for two, 21,000 Naira for many entries over six months and 31,500 Naira for many entries over one year. The visa centre's own service charge is extra. Until 31 December 2026, short visits of 180 days or less need no fingerprints. Nigeria, Ghana and India are not on the visa-free lists or the 240-hour transit list on the official pages checked for this rulebook (lists published November 2025 and May 2026).
