Nigerian, Ghanaian and Indian passports are not on the K-ETA list, so a visa is needed. You apply at the Korean embassy or consulate where you live: for Nigerians, the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Abuja. The embassy's own pages could not be read for this rulebook, so ask the embassy for its current list, as it may ask for more papers. The official pages our software could read do not list reasons for refusal. So these grounds rest on what the Korea Visa Portal and the visa form say an application must contain, and on the Immigration Act's list of people who may be kept out of Korea. The form asks for the trip cost in US dollars, so the currency here is US dollars. Korea publishes no rule on how many months of bank statements to send: the 3 months here is our own working default, not an official rule. The law is quoted from the English translation on the government's law site, which says the translation has no legal effect.

Where does your application stand?

Answer a few questions and see how each requirement usually reads on your facts.

  1. 1 Why are you going?

The purpose has to be one the visa permits, and the rest of the application has to match it.

  2. 2 Who is paying for the trip?

Money that is not yours has to be evidenced by the person whose money it is.

  3. 3 What do you do at home?

This is the tie the officer weighs most heavily, and the one most often left unevidenced.

  4. 4 What is your travel history?

Travel you completed and returned from is the single most useful thing you can show.
