The Hayya Tourist Visa (A1) is for anyone who wishes to travel to Qatar for tourism or visit friends and family.

Passport validity and return ticket

Minimum of 3 months passport validity from the date of arrival to the State of Qatar

Proof of where you will stay

Yes, you are required to provide a proof of booked accommodation by uploading a copy of your booking and providing the hotel address or to be hosted by family and friends.

What the officer assesses: Whether your hotel booking or your host covers every night from the day you land to the day you fly home, with no gaps.

  • If your application status is “Pending Accommodation Confirmation”, you must provide your accommodation details within 30 days of receiving the notification email. Failure to do so will result in cancellation of your Hayya application, and you will need to submit a new one again.

Working on a visit visa

A visitor on Hayya E-Visa is not permitted to work in the State of Qatar by law.

Past removals and earlier refusals

Nigerian, Ghanaian and Indian passport holders need a visa for Qatar. Most visitors apply online on Hayya, the official e-visa platform, for the Tourist Visa (A1). A relative who lives in Qatar can instead ask the Ministry of Interior for a family visit visa through Metrash2. The official pages list what an application must contain: a passport valid for 3 months, proof of where you will stay, and a return ticket. They do not publish a list of reasons for refusing one. Hayya says a refused application shows the reason on your dashboard, but sometimes no reason is given. So these grounds are the published conditions, plus what Law No. 21 of 2015 on entry and residence says about the purpose of a visit. The official pages do not ask for bank statements or a fixed amount of money for a tourist visa, so the statement period here is only a sensible check, not an official rule. The Hayya pages give 30 days for a tourist visa, and a family visit visa is one month that can be extended.
