Egypt e-Visa Portal FAQ: refusal of entry at the port

At the border: entry can still be refused

Egyptian port authorities have the right to refuse entry to Egypt for an e-visa holder without any explanation.

What the officer assesses: Whether you carry the papers the border officer can ask for on arrival, so the visa you hold is backed up when you land.

Egypt has two ways to get a tourist visa. People from the countries on the e-Visa list can apply online. India is on that list. Nigeria and Ghana are not, so people with those passports apply at an Egyptian embassy or consulate, such as the embassy in Abuja. The official pages list what an application must contain. They do not publish reasons for refusing one, and they say entry can be refused at the border with no reason given. So these grounds are the published conditions: the right way to apply, a passport valid for 6 months, a full application, a trip plan with bookings, a letter that shows why you are going, and what happens at the border. The Egyptian embassy in Abuja has no visa page our software could read, so the embassy list used here comes from the Egyptian consulate in Washington DC. No official page read gives a money amount or a number of months of bank statements.
